On June 2005, Savola Packaging Systems Company made an
Acquisition for Al Sharq Plastics Company, which is one of
the largest plastic manufacturing companies in the Region.
The Acquisitions included 3 factories one is for the plastics products which include almost all types of plastic products, containers Closures; house holds products, drums and pallets. The 2nd factory manufactures a top of the art plastic films and bags and the third factory is used for crushing and recycling. 450 employees were included in that’s as well. With this Acquisition, Savola Packaging Systems will increase its market share and consequently will have a more variety of plastic products to offer to the customer. SPS Export
to Japan Our PET Export division signed a five year contract for supplying PET Preforms for hot fill applications well known company dedicated in supplying PET Containers for Hot Fill Applications to the bottlers in Japan. These containers are exclusively used for filling Mineral water and other beverages at a filling temperature of 85-102 C, which is one of the highest form of maintaining hygiene of the package. Supplying preforms for this application would further open opportunities for Savola to tap huge potential of the far east market for the Hot fill application. This also positions Savola as one of the suppliers producing preforms for Hot fill which is a rarity of something similarly done by any manufacturers in the Middle East. NADEC signs a 3 years contract with SPS One of the Major Dairy and Juice Company in the Kingdom NADEC signed a 3 year contract with us for supplying PET Containers in the 3 sizes for 200,500 and 1000 ml. This was a major shift by NADEC by changing their existing HDPE bottles Package to PET. This was marked with such a success that in less than a months time from the launch NADEC got very encouraging response from the market. As a consequence the contract that was eventually signed for 32 million pcs was revisited and was modified to 56 million pcs. It was great efforts by the PET team and the confidence they put in the customers of their capabilities. This project may be seen as a long term vision of the VP of Savola in getting our packaging company recognized as a pioneer in playing a lead role in shifting the existing HDPE packages to PET, a plastic that is getting worldwide recognition.
